I was lucky to meet freelance writer and blogger Nichole from "Emmy & Me" this year at a networking group for self-employed Mums and I was excited to work with her and Emmy on a Lifestyle Family Photo-shoot so she would have professional images to contribute to up-coming blogs and articles.

We met at my studio before our photo-shoot and Nichole got pampered with a hair style from Jade from JLS Hair Design and Make-up by Amy from Aurora Beauty.

Emmy was super patient and happy dancing and trying on my hat while we made sure mum was ready to go.

I have been loving Botanical inspired decor for homes, cafes and weddings lately so I was looking forward to heading to "Botanica", a horticultural complex in Whangarei to see how it would look as a backdrop for our portraits.

We stopped by some other popular locations on the way - we are so lucky to have Cafler Park and the Rose Gardens right in the centre of town and it makes for a nice walk with children.

I love the natural approach to family portraiture, capturing people being together without too much stress on posing.

Emmy coped very well with her big day and the walk and so did her Mummy. I loved seeing in person what a team they both are, as expressed in the their blog "Happiest When Wandering" which will soon be detailing their travel adventures together.

Here's what they had to say about their experience:
"Being on shoot with Sarah Marshall Photography is about so much more than superb photography. Her vision for what we needed from the shoot far surpassed my own expectations of the day. Sarah is an artist, a master of her craft, and her confidence behind the camera coupled with her bubbly personality kept us feeling comfortable and at ease during the shoot. The result is a stunning portfolio that is perfectly suited to commercial use – which was the purpose of the shoot – but is so beautiful and natural that the photos will look right at home on the walls of our living room. Thank you Sarah.
- Emmy & Me"

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Sarah & Josh arrived in NZ from Australia the week before their wedding on July 30th. Which is why we met for the first time on their special day held at the "Copthorne Hotel and Resort Bay of Islands".

We had fun capturing these special memories in the beautiful winter light and managed to avoid the rain for the ceremony and most of the portraits, there was even a beautiful rainbow!

The guys enjoyed some "fine" NZ beer which they no doubt miss in Aussy ;)

Other vendors that were a part of the day:

Hair - Monique Moret

Make-Up - Brooke Warner

Thank you Sarah & Josh for having me there to capture your day with friends & family.

Melissa & Wayne met through a friend 6.5 years ago & they married on a windy winters day in July with their beautiful daughters at their side.

Close friends & family gathered at Sands Motel - next to the beautiful beach, Whangaumu Bay for their ceremony.

I love showing up to weddings & seeing familiar faces such as Jade from "JLS Hair Design" on hair styling & Kelly from "Re-vive Beauty Therapy" on Make-Up.

The stunning bridal bouquet, floral headbands & boutonnieres are from the talented Amy at "Keepsake Bouquets & Flax Flowers".

The girls crochet cardigans where knitted by Wayne's Aunty. The lace over the dress was from part of Wayne's mothers wedding dress & was tea died off-white & they added knitted fluffy cuffs to match the girls.

Marriage Celebrant Sacha Disher conducted the ceremony & Melissa & Wayne exchanged wedding bands from "Deadringer Jewelry" - check out that awesome hand made ring box!

We then headed out to Tutukaka for some bridal party portraits in the wind & rain, they then celebrated their day with dinner at "Schnappa Rock Restaurant & Bar" & dessert - a delicious cake wedding cake from "Petra's RAW CAKES".

This is a new style edit for me - I also gave Melissa & Wayne clean colour edits & another set in black & white.

Thanks for scrolling ;)

Kelsi & Jared's wedding was held at Whanagrei's Heritage Park in March.

The stunning boquet & bridal party flowers are by Mintfloral  - I love seeing how happy the bride is when their gorgeous creations arrive.

Here's some feedback from Kelsi:

"Sarah did our wedding photography in march and did an amazing job! The photos are awesome, everything was captured perfectly and we have had so many comments from friends and family saying that they love the photos. 100% reccomend her services! Thanks so much sarah!"

Thank you both for having me there on your special day!
